The holidays are a notoriously busy time. There are end-of-year parties, gifts for everyone that need buying, and travel to contend with (not to mention that damn elf.) Which is why, perhaps more than selfishness, sheer busy-ness can make it hard to squeeze in time to give back and engage with the more meaningful aspects of the season. If you’re worried that your to-do list makes things like donating your time impossible, Amazon has introduced an Alexa skill so easy you don’t even need to root around for your credit card to give something.
Debuted on Giving Tuesday, through December 31 you say “Alexa, donate to Toys for Tots.” Alexa will respond with an item off the Toys for Tots wishlist with the price. If you confirm, Amazon will then handle shipping and donation. The first $200,000 in donations will also be matched by Amazon with a second toy.
This is the second year Amazon has partnered with Toys for Tots for this virtual toy drive. “We are delighted to once again join with Amazon to create an easy way for people to give back and send holiday cheer to children in difficult circumstances,” said Pete Osman, President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in a press release.
Don’t have an Alexa? You can still participate in a few clicks by going directly to the Toys for Tots toy drive wishlist page on Amazon. You can also browse more charity wishlists for other donation ideas. If you’re looking for ways for your kids to get more involved in giving back, you can even let the older ones browse and select their charity and gift. Now if only Alexa could move around the Elf on the Shelf for you…
