- “Amputee ultrarunner” Jacky Hunt-Broersma just ran 100 miles in under 24 hours.
- She did it all on her treadmill, only taking breaks to refuel and go to the bathroom.
- Hunt-Broersma finished her one-woman marathon with 22 minutes to spare.
Just a heads up: While you were taking this weekend to finish up Too Hot to Handle, self-describe “amputee ultrarunner” Jacky Hunt-Broersma was busy running 100 miles on her treadmill. Oh, and she did it in under 24 hours.
Hunt-Broersma, who is also a cancer survivor according to her Instagram bio, documented the whole thing on her IG Stories and even ran the last mile on Instagram Live.
Hunt-Broersma’s husband filmed the end of her one-woman race, and she was talking to him up until she was done. “Do you know how to stand still on the ground without moving your legs?” he asked. “Nope!” she replied.
Hilariously, she stopped the timer on her watch before she stopped her treadmill once she hit 100 miles. “Stop that thing! Get off, get off!” her husband said. Jacky then turned to the camera and thanked everyone who watched and supported her, talking like she didn’t just run 100 freaking miles.
After her marathon, Hunt-Broersma shared a photo of herself sitting on her treadmill and looking remarkably chill for someone who just spent nearly a full day and night running om Instagram. “I did it!! 100 miles in 23hr 38 on a treadmill,” she wrote in the caption. Still, don’t let the pic fool you. “This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done,” she continued. “I look a little tired in this photo🤣. Everything hurts, my stump is bruised and full of blisters and I will be doing a shuffle for a while, hahaha but it was so worth it.”

In her post, Hunt-Broersma thanked people who cheered her on online, as well as her friends who cheered her on from her porch. “A few of you asked if the treadmill switched off after a certain time and I’m happy to report the one I have didn’t,” she said. “It kept going for the entire time. It does have a few extra squeaks now though🤣🤣.
Hunt-Broersma also wrote in a pre-run post that she planned to keep on running, except for “aid station refueling” and trips to the bathroom. “Originally the plan was to run laps in the neighborhood, but with social distancing and the neighborhood busy with walkers I was going to find it hard to avoid people so I’ve decided to run the full 100 miles on the treadmill😱,” she wrote. “I will be the first amputee to ever run a 100 miles on a treadmill nonstop. I must be crazy🤣.”
