Mat Fraser Took Rogue’s ‘Cliffhanger’ Challenge. Can You?

Rogue Fitness, one of the most recognizable names in the gym gear and equipment industry, is challenging everyone to just hang on—and a familiar face just threw his name into the competition. Rogue’s Instagram shared a video of recently retired CrossFit GOAT Mat Fraser taking on the company’s most recent social media contest, the Cliffhanger Challenge. To participate, all you need is a pullup bar, a timer, and a smartphone to record yourself. Then take hold of the bar and hang on until you can’t.

The company has made a splash with its accessible—yet super tough—social media workout challenges this year. First up was last month’s bear hug challenge, which offered $2,500 and a full strongman bag set to the person who could hold on to a 200 pound sandbag the longest. Canadian Nani Orlique pulled off the win, holding the bag for over 12 minutes.

The Cliffhanger Challenge is currently underway, but you can still give it a shot and submit your entry until 8 p.m. ET on March 8. Here’s the important info, directly from Rogue:

1. Register at roguefitness.com/challenges
2. Compete in any location you wish
3. Submit your score and video using YouTube and the @btwbapp. Scores are due on March 8th at 8:00pm EST.

Prize packages include $2,500 and a Rogue Anvil Grip for first place, $1,000 and a Dinnie Ring Set for second, and $500 and Rogue Cannonball Grips for third.

There are some more detailed instructions about eligibility and requirements, though. You’ll need to pay a $10 entry fee at registration to enter the competition (you can also pay $30 for entry and a Rogue Challenge t-shirt, too). You’ll also need to double-check that your pullup bar is eligible, have a clearly visible timer in the background, and make sure to follow the instructions for proper filming for the submission to count, too. Check out those details here.

One thing that’s not clear: if you’ll actually have a chance to go head-to-head with Fraser. He showed off the post in the demo, sure, but he didn’t confirm that he’s entered the competition. If you want to take that chance to go up against the GOAT, get registered, prep your workstation, and get hanging. He’s retired, after all—maybe you’ve got what it takes to beat the best.
