Snoop Dogg has really immersed himself in the food world. The renowned rapper collabed with Dunkin’ to make a sandwich, co-hosted a dinner party show with Martha Stewart herself, and even holds a Guinness World Record for mixing the world’s largest gin and juice. Now, he has his very own vino coming out this summer.
Snoop Cali Red is the debut wine release of Snoop’s multi-year partnership with the Australian wine brand 19 Crimes, a line of wines that feature the “convicts-turned-colonists” who built Australia. The wine is promoted as the brand’s first California wine and fittingly features Snoop’s face on the label. The red wine blend includes 65 percent Petite Syrah, 30 percent Zinfandel, and 5 percent Merlot for $12 a bottle, according to Food & Wine.
Snoop, obviously, wasn’t one of the convicts who built Australia, but his addition aims to bring a more modern-day element to the brand’s wine selection. “Snoop embodies the spirit of 19 Crimes–rule breaking, culture creating and overcoming adversity,” marketing vice president of the Americas for Treasury Wine Estates John Wardley said in an announcement.
The Napa-based 19 Crimes brand was the first winery to bring its labels to life through augmented reality, meaning that the people on the labels could talk to customers through an app. There’s no report of this fancy feature being implemented on Snoop’s labels, but I’m sure we could all make the case for a Snoop label rapping his greatest hits.
