Actor Isabella Giovinazzo, 29, shares her day on a plate.
Isabella Giovinazzo.
5.30am I start my day with a big cup of coffee, then do yoga.
7.30am Breakfast on set is a bowl of muesli with almond milk.
10am Another coffee.
11am I appropriate a backup breakfast, and carry it with me to wherever we’re shooting. Beginning work at 7am means I’m ready for lunch by 11. So I irritate those around me (everyone is hungry) by pulling out my second breakfast: muesli with yoghurt and fruit. The Monte Carlos at the tea trolley also get a look in!
1pm We break for lunch: today it’s a Moroccan lentil and lamb stew, then baked apple crumble (perfect apple-to-crumble ratio!), complete with ice-cream and warm, spiced custard.
3pm Another coffee. Let’s be honest!
8pm By dinner time, I’m exhausted. I’ll cook when we wrap, but for now I walk down the high street with a friend to eat a steak and drink a beer at the social club. What a great day!
Dr Joanna McMillan says …
Top marks for … Your muesli double breakfast. Muesli is a wonderfully nutritious mix of oats, nuts and seeds that provide slow-release carbs for energy, plant protein, good fats and bags of nutrients and antioxidants. I’m also loving your good relationship with food generally; it is clearly
a pleasurable part of the day, as it should be.
If you keep eating like this you’ll … Need to watch that you don’t consume too much red meat. It is a terrific source of iron, which many women are short of, but for best long-term health stick to a small portion three or four times a week and serve it with enough vegies to fill half the plate.
Why don’t you try … Eating one vegetarian and two seafood dinners a week. When having steak, accompany it with a big salad or mix of vegies. Keep up the dessert passion but make it a treat, once or twice a week.
Isabella Giovinazzo is in Playing for Keeps, returning again this Wednesda, October 16 at 8.30pm on Channel 10.
