“The reduction of global tobacco consumption shows that governments through the introduction and strengthening of their comprehensive measures can protect the welfare of its citizens and communities,” says Dr. Rüdiger Krech, Director of health promotion at the WHO.
Despite these declines, the progress in achieving the global target of tobacco consumption to reduce by 2025 to 30 percent to low. When looking at the current results, only one reduction will be by 2025, or 23 percent.
