Gordon Ramsay Said the TikTok of Someone Cooking a Steak Covered in Butter Still Gives Him Nightmares

Gordon Ramsay has obviously made a name for himself in the culinary world and as a host and judge on some of the most popular food TV shows. But on the internet, he’s becoming known for something completely different: critiquing the food of amateur chefs on TikTok. And though he’s taken dozens of home chefs to task, Gordon recently spoke to PEOPLE and revealed the one dish that haunts him to this day.

While Gordon says there are a lot of very talented people on the app, he also said there are a lot of people making a lot of very bad cooking decisions on TikTok.

“There’s an exciting plethora of young talents on TikTok that are super, super talented… and then you cut to some really bad crap,” he said. “People are putting rib-eye steaks in toasters! They’re doing the most ridiculous things with ice coffees! It’s crazy.”

We’ve followed Gordon as he’s criticized everything from a turkey covered in toothpicks to his own daughter’s cooking, but he said there’s one dish that still haunts him and gives him nightmares…and now it’s not the steak in the toaster.

“The one that I have nightmares every time I close my eyes is the guy that bought a rib-eye steak and he macerated it with something like four pounds of butter. It turned this thing into one of the greasiest, most disgusting steaks I’ve ever seen,” he said.

OK, um yeah that’s pretty bad, but he doesn’t always issue criticisms to the chefs in question. Recently, he praised a quarantined chef who made meals using tools in his hotel room. Gordon also had some kind words for another celebrity chef…or should I say chef celebrity? Gordon told Insider that Gigi Hadid is a “prolific chef” who uses her experiences traveling to influence her cooking.

“I remember when she first came on MasterChef and we had an amazing couple of days cooking together,” Gordon said: “She has one of the most articulated palates on the planet.”

In fact, he even paid homage to her viral spicy pasta dish this past weekend for a paid event on Facebook, with proceeds benefitting Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. You can still purchase and access the event here.
