She told Vogue in 2017 that she does 15-minute high-intensity interval training workouts during her down time. “It’s high-intensity interval training, but it’s so quick, it’s over before it’s even started,” she said, noting that she does jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and burpees before performances to get her blood pumping.
“I try and work out as much as I can,” Dua told New Zealand magazine Viva in 2018, noting that she tries to work out every day, even for a few minutes. “I love doing something that’s really fast and quick, like a 15-minute HIIT session which I can do before I start my day. If I’ve got a really early call time, I don’t want to be waking up hours before I need to to go and do a workout. So a high-intensity workout, shower, breakfast, and I’m on my way.” To maintain her washboard abs, she does “variations of crunches” like bicycle crunches and leg raises. “Planks are good, although almost certainly my least favorite!”
When she’s on the road, Dua looks for fun workouts wherever she is, like yoga, Pilates, boxing, or spinning. “Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting,” she said. “When you’re on a tour bus, every day and every place is different, so you never know what you’re going to find. That’s always one way to keep it interesting.” She’s big on boxing, in particular. “I like that it’s definitely a full body workout. Since starting boxing, I’ve probably been in the best shape ever,” she told Viva. “It’s also a great stress reliever.” That said, she prefers group fitness and working with a trainer to working out on her own.
As for her diet, she tries to stay away from sugar, and fuels up for workouts with bananas and cashew butter. “I try and stay as healthy as possible whenever I can,” Lipa told Adidas, per Beauty Crew. “I’m never one to stop myself having treats, I do love naughty treats. But I try and limit it to days when I’m not as busy, because if I do eat a doughnut it usually puts me in a food coma!”
