Fitting physical exercise into our busy lives can be difficult sometimes.
But there are many reasons why this is important for our overall health, and weight loss is one of the benefits.
Walking is a free, low impact activity where you can do anywhere.
It’s also great for your bones, muscles, heart and lungs.
Walking for weight loss: Two easy ways to turn your walk into a fat burning workout
Dean Embling, Master Personal Trainer at Virgin Active has given two tips on how to turn your walking routine into a fat burning workout.
First, you could try switching up your walking route.
Instead of your normal stroll, choose a longer route which has more difficult terrain.
Walking uphill will burn more calories than on a flat surface.
This is because you are increasing your exercise intensity – the more work you to the more calories you will burn.
Secondly, Dean recommends to add a backpack with some items inside to burn more calories.
Adding more weight will make your body work slightly harder.
It could be as simple as carrying a book, and a bottle of water or two.
