JP Patterson set out on a grueling challenge last weekend, completing a marathon in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales in just 24 hours. Taking to Instagram, the reality TV star wrote, “Today I officially became the first person in history to run a marathon in all 4 countries of the uk in 24 hours, with a time of 23:47:10.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been that broken before, hands down one of the craziest experiences of my life. Thank you all so much for the support and donations over the past few days.”
Patterson has been quick to share details of the toll the challenge took on his body. Sharing a photo of himself using crutches, Patterson wrote, “6 hours in A&E, one stress fracture, ligament damage and a strained calf later I’m cruising again.
“First day I’ve been able to stomach food properly, which is great, I’ve lost almost a stone in weight. Time to chill and recharge this broken body.”
Patterson completed the challenge to raise money for the charity Samaritans. On his Just Giving page, he wrote, “As someone who has battled with mental health I know full well that at times even in a crowded room, even with a loving family or an amazing bunch of friends, you can still feel very much alone.”
At the time of writing, Patterson has raised more than $30,000 for the charity.
