The final stretch! Pregnant Duchess Meghan, who is expecting her first child with her husband, Prince Harry, has gone into labor, Us Weekly confirms.
“The duchess went into labor in the early hours of this morning,” Buckingham Palace announced in a statement on Monday, May 6. “The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highness’ side. An announcement will be made soon.”
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, revealed that they were pregnant in October 2018 with a Kensington Palace statement.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the announcement read. “Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The major news came just five months after the pair tied the knot in May 2018 — and after much baby bump speculation.
The dad-to-be has been doting on the former Suits actress throughout her pregnancy, a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly in February.
“Harry’s being his usual amazing self around Meghan,” the insider said. “He’s keeping an eye on her to ensure she doesn’t overwork because she’s not the best at knowing when to put the brakes on — that’ll be Harry’s job.”
The source added: “She feels really great and is enjoying the busy work schedule she has at the moment. He’ll make sure she’s not doing much as they enter the final weeks.”
But while Harry has been spoiling his wife, the couple want “to bring up children who know the values of normal things in life,” royal contributor Omid Scobie told Us in November 2018. “Meghan will take her kids on a subway. They’ll have chores, and jobs one day. They won’t be spoiled.”
