New mom Cardi B gave birth to baby daughter Kulture (with husband, rapper Offset) on July 10. When she was pregnant, Cardi B performed up until April 25, when she let fans know it would be her last show for a while until she returned to the stage with Bruno Mars for his "24K Magic World Tour" this fall.
But Cardi B has had a big change of heart — and a big change of plans. The performer posted to Instagram on Thursday that she’s not feeling ready to return to the stage just yet.
"…I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing," Cardi B stated candidly. "Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road. I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby…."
Fans were quick to praise and support her decision online. Here are just a few of the reactions.
- "Six weeks isn’t even close to enough time!!!! I hope the maternity leave time gets re-evaluated and changed SOON! Enjoy this time and don’t feel bad for it!!"
- "Awwww ur such a good momma Cardi!!! we love u and will support your decision in any way possible"
- "We love you @iamcardib and the baby… Do you boo!!"
Not only did fans understand, Bruno Mars did too.
Now that’s a true friend. We’ll crank "Bodak Yellow" in our cars in your honor too, Mama CB. You’ve got this. The stage can wait — get some snuggle time with your baby girl and rest up.
