Allscripts rebrands under the name Veradigm

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions announced on Tuesday that the company will now be called Veradigm.

In March 2022 the electronic health record vendor – which was founded in 1986 and grew through many mergers and acquisitions in the years after – sold its hospital and large physician practice business segment, which included Allscripts’ Sunrise, Paragon, TouchWorks, Opal and dbMotion tools.

Previously, Allscripts sold 2bPrecise, an acquisition that specialized in aggregating genetic and genomic data from electronic health records in order to further precision medicine initiatives and is now part of AccessDX.

In May, Allscripts’ chief executive officer for 10 years, Paul Black, stepped down.

Black told Healthcare IT News previously that “Health IT companies need to look beyond what is typically in use today – look to the consumer market and pull in those technologies to make the electronic health records more holistic in addressing the healthcare industry’s challenges.”

According to this week’s rebranding announcement, the newly-named Veradigm sees “transitioning away from disconnected, dysfunctional, disparate systems” and moving to interoperable systems where point-of-care data “can be translated into actionable insights driving measurable value and supporting a higher quality of care.”

Veradigm says it connects more than 300,000 U.S. healthcare providers, representing more than 170 million patients, and provides access to de-identified patient data and analytics at scale.

“Some healthcare technology companies deliver clinical data for biopharma and health plans, some help turn that data into insights, others serve healthcare providers directly by providing point-of-care clinical software and patient outreach platforms, Veradigm does it all,” said Rick Poulton, Veradigm’s CEO, in the statement.

“As our markets continue to evolve, completing our brand transition to Veradigm represents a capstone on our own evolution as a company,” he added. “We are well-positioned to drive growth and serve each market where we compete.”
