In a recent video collab with YouTuber Mr. Beast, strongman Brian Shaw was issued a challenge: if he can deadlift the back half of a Chevy Camaro convertible (a vehicle with curb weight of nearly 4,000 pounds), then he can keep it.
“I have a hard time believing that,” says Beast, who clearly doesn’t watch Shaw’s other videos.
“It’ll be a little bit of a challenge,” says Shaw. “I’m going into this confidently, I have lifted a good number of cars in my life.” True to his word, Shaw is able to immediately lift the car, showcasing the raw power that helped him win the title of World’s Strongest Man on four different occasions.
But he’s not done there.
“I need to get some training in,” he says, and so he instructs Beast and his two companions to jump in the Camaro, saying he’ll lift them along with the car. He succeeds in pulling their combined weight for 10 reps, winning the car. But the question remains: can the 6’6″ tall, 440-pound strongman actually fit in his new prize? The answer is just barely.
Of course, Shaw’s victory over the Chevy will not come as a surprise to anybody who has followed him on social media these last couple of years. In 2020, he shared a video of himself deadlifting a Nissan Versa on his driveway. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Hyundai and pulled three SUVs simultaneously for a commercial. Hauling around automobiles is old hat. Maybe Mr. Beast should have presented him with a real challenge: an 18-wheeler truck, maybe.
