780 Days of the ‘One Punch Man’ Workout Transformed This Man’s Body

The One Punch Man workout has become a popular fitness challenge on YouTube, with plenty of anime fans emulating the rigorous exercise regime of protagonist Saitama, who overcomes all of his physical limitations by performing 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 air squats, and a 10-km run each day. While most videos of this challenge follow attempts to stick to the workout for 30 days, or even 100 days, Sean Seah has incorporated the One Punch Man routine into his daily training for more than two years.

“I became leaner and more muscular in the process,” he says in a recent video about his experience. In addition to the visible transformation—he’s now sporting shredded six-pack abs—Sean has also become considerably stronger as a result of the workout, and encourages others to try it for themselves, albeit with some important caveats.

He recommends a “test day” to determine how much of the workout you can complete without exhausting yourself—because you’ll still need energy to do it all again the next day. “Start at a level you are sure you can do daily,” he says. “I wanted to do something simple so I could get started immediately. Frankly, I tried to do the full workout initially and got so burnt out that I had to rest for an entire week before I could start properly again.”

Sean eased himself into the daily workout by starting off running 5 km, and then building his endurance and working his way up to the full 10 km distance. And while training every single day is one thing when you’re doing a 30-day challenge, it’s quite another when it’s a part of your everyday life; and so he strongly advises taking sufficient time to let your muscles rest and recover.
