The mum-of-three – who, btw, gave birth to baby Birdie a year ago – has really ramped up her exercise regime since lockdown started. Not only is she down 45kgs (…yes, really!) she’s feeling physically and mentally stronger – and it shows.
“Woke up before all 3 kiddos to get my steps in and spend time with me, myself and I,” she captioned a sweaty mirror selfie taken after her morning workout. “Move move move for your own mental health. ??”
Let’s state the obvious: she looks bloody phenom. In fact, we’re pretty sure her abs were chiselled by the Gods. But it begs the question… How did she get so fit so quick?
For starters, the singer is BIG on prioritising incidental exercise. Shortly after giving birth back in 2019, her trainer Harley Pasternak set her a goal of walking 12,000 steps per day. “It’s a social thing she can do with her kids,” he told Us Weekly. Lately, though, she’s built this up to 14,000 steps (as per E! News.) She also goes hard at the gym three times a week, with these sessions involving 5 to 10 minutes of cardio to warm up, 20 to 30 minutes of resistance training and flexibility and 5 to 10 minutes of cardio to cool down.
Plus, she’s a clean eater. She has three meals a day plus snacks to get in her protein, fibre and fat. She also stays away from alcohol (because empty calories) and substitutes cauliflower for practically everything.
“We did not diet in a tasteless, extreme, radical way,” Pasternak said in an interview with Good Morning America. “[Jessica] loves Tex-Mex flavours so she had a lot of healthy versions of Tex-Mex foods.”
