April is kind of a huge month for planets going retrograde. Jupiter did it, Pluto did it, and, before the month wraps up, Saturn is going retrograde, too.
Saturn’s retrograde is happening on April 29, and it’s definitely going to have an impact on your life. Donna Page, a certified astrologer in Atlanta, and Linda Joyce, an astrologer and life coach, spell out how it’s all going to go down.
What does it mean when Saturn goes retrograde?
Retrograde is basically a fancy word that means a planet seems to be moving backwards from its usual orbit in the sky, says Page. On the astrological side of things, retrograde also means you’ll feel the vibe the planet is giving off a little more strongly than when it’s doing its usual thing.
Saturn is all about responsibilities in life, so you can expect to be more acutely aware of yours around this time, Page says. (Sounds super fun…)
What does Saturn in retrograde mean for your sign?
Overall, you’re going to mull over the things in your life that feel most relevant to you, Page says. “Saturn can make you wonder, ‘Am I being responsible for who I need to be?'” she explains. You’ll also focus more on the things you feel like you’re supposed to do in life—and wonder if it’s what you really want to be doing. (Because, I mean, is laundry really **that** necessary?)
Don’t be surprised if this brings up a lot of questions in pretty much every aspect of your life. You might start to wonder about things like whether you really want to have a desk job, or if you should continue dating someone just because they’re perfect on paper. Basically, get ready for some #deep thoughts.
“Saturn doesn’t let you get away with anything,” Joyce says. As a whole, she explains, the issue will be about responsibility and commitment to your goals. “Most of us will either be too committed or not enough,” she says.
“Wherever you are out of balance is where you’ll face your challenge. Are you afraid of responsibility because you had too much growing up? Are you too committed to work and your personal life is suffering?” Joyce continues. “Step back and let the retrograde glide into a bigger consciousness of yourself.”
Every zodiac sign will feel the effect of Saturn’s retrograde, but Capricorn and Cancer will feel it the most, Page says.
How will Saturn’s retrograde impact the rest of your year?
Saturn going retrograde can spark a personal Q&A session that can have repercussions for the immediate future—and maybe the rest of your life—depending on what kind of action you decide to take.
Just know this: You’ll feel the impact a little more strongly when the retrograde first happens and again when Saturn goes direct on September 18, so it’s probably best to take a beat and think over major decisions for a bit until the universe simmers down.
