Delta variant cases in US could follow UK pattern – ‘UK is turning the corner’

Dr Scott Gottlieb told CNBC he expects rising cases linked to the highly transmissible Delta variant to in the US to start declining in the next two to three weeks, following a similar trend to the one seen in the UK. Dr Gottlieb pointed to the UK’s fall in infection as evidence for what can be expected in the US, stating that England’s experience during the pandemic has been viewed as a ‘harbinger’ for the US and other countries. He said: “I think the more observable trend if what’s going on in the United Kingdom, where cases are clearly coming down at this point. There’s a very clear tread down. It seems like they’ve peaked.”
