Watch World’s Strongest Man Brian Shaw Use Duct Tape to Move Massive Weights

Four-time World’s Strongest Man winner Brian Shaw has been busy showing off his strength in… unusual ways. He recently filmed a commercial for Hyundai, where he pulled 3 Hyundai Tuscon SUVs. And in his latest YouTube video, he took his viewers behind the scenes of a commercial shoot for T-Rex Brute Force duct tape. The brand claims to be the incredibly durable and able to hold over 700 pounds—and recently, Guinness World Records bestowed the brand the title of the strongest duct tape. To prove if that tape really is as strong as it claims, Shaw is doing some of his toughest strongman workouts for the camera—putting the tape to some of the most strenuous possible stress tests.

“I can’t wait to put this tape to the test and prove how strong it actually is,” says Shaw in the video.

He walks his viewers through the workout plan before he gets to work. The first feat of strength he does with the tape is lifting a concrete block, which weighs 700 pounds.

“The connection is the tape,” says Shaw. Using a pulley system, Shaw will lift the concrete block attached to a pulley and cable system. “It’s crazy!”

The second part of the shoot sees Shaw pulling a sled using the tape. Finally, Shaw loads up a safety squat bar for a lift lift. He will use a safety squat bar on his back, which is connected to two safes (each weighing 217 pounds).

“I think it’s going to look pretty cool when I get the safe’s up and off the ground,” says Shaw. “It will demonstrate the strength of the tape. I’m pumped up.”

The next day, Shaw heads to the set for the shoot, where he gets spruced up with some makeup. He preps for his concrete block lift, and does a few shots as he lifts the concrete block.

“I have to say, after doing this, I kind of want to get one of these for my gym,” he says about the block. “I feel like this would be a really cool apparatus to have in the middle of the gym.”

Next up is the safety squat lift. He lifts them like a beast (completely with his mouth guard in) a couple times, then moves to the third and final feat: the sled pull. He rocks a harness, using the tape to connects the harness to the sled. He says that he is going to try and rip the tape with his pull…but he can’t.

“Overall, I am very impressed with the T-Rex tape,” says Shaw. “We got some really cool shots and at he same time demonstrated the strength of the product. I thought I’d be able to rip it and break it, and i was not able to do that because of how strong it was.”
