Thanks to Uber Eats You Can Send Starbucks to The Friends and Family You've Been Missing

One of the hardest parts of quarantine isn’t the inability to go shopping or missing out on the food from our favorite restaurants — it’s not being able to be with our friends, family, and loved ones. As someone who used to get coffee literally every morning with my best friend, it’s been a big adjustment. And though Zoom and Facetime have made bridging the distance a little easier, sometimes I wish there were more ways to show the people I miss that I’m thinking of them. Now, Uber Eats and Starbucks are teaming up to help us do just that.

With their new feature, you can order someone a Starbucks drink or food item (is anyone else having sous vide egg bites withdrawal or IS THAT JUST ME), then have it sent to their home. They’ll get a text with tracking information so they know when their order will arrive (even if they don’t have Uber Eats). You can order for friends who live nearby, but more excitingly, you can also send items to loved ones who live in other cities or states (or even countries!) to let them know that they’re on your mind.

All you need to do is put in the address of the person you want to send food or a drink to. Select the items you want to send, then order as usual.

After placing your order, you’ll be given a link that you can share with them, so they can track their order and see when it’s arriving at their door.

“Our new socially distant reality has transformed how people connect with those they care about, leaving many looking for ways to feel closer to friends and loved ones,” Uber said on their website. Sending coffee to someone is a small gesture, but in times like these, it’s one that can have a big impact.
