NOT A DRILL: Chipotle Is Giving out $1 Million Worth of Free Burritos

The NBA Finals are finallllly here (yay, sports)! And lucky for us Twitter users, Chipotle will be giving away $1 million worth of free burritos! During the 2019 Men’s Professional Basketball Championship Series, the burrito chain will be ‘freeting’ to celebrate its nationwide free delivery offer.

What is ‘freeting?’ Whenever an on-air announcer says the word ‘free’ (think free throw, free agent, breaking free) Chipotle will live tweet a unique code that can be redeemed for a FREE burrito (or any regularly-priced entrée).

Want the deets? First follow @chipotletweets and listen closely to the announcers during the games. Head to twitter once you hear ‘free’ to find a code in Chipotle’s latest tweet. Next, you’ll text 888222 to receive instructions for burrito redemption. And this will go on and on and on until $1,ooo,ooo worth of burritos have been tweeted away!

Chipotle will also be offering free delivery throughout the series: Every day from Thursday, 5/30 to Sunday, 6/9 as well as Monday, 6/10, Thursday, 6/13 and Saturday, 6/16 if the series continues. This applies to all orders $10 or more via the Chipotle app, site, and through DoorDash.

It seems like this is a new trend, giving out delicious goods during big sporting events. During March Madness, Buffalo Wild Wings gave out a full year’s supply of wings, and Coors Light vowed to give away free beer every time Bud Light insulted them. (This came post Super Bowl ad…) Here’s hoping this kind of thing continues!
