Gisele Bundchen Regrets How She Dealt With This Insecurity

She’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women in the world – but that doesn’t mean Gisele Bundchen is immune to feeling insecure about her body.

Speaking with People recently, the Victoria’s Secret model opened up about undergoing a secret breast augmentation after breastfeeding left her chest slightly lopsided. Gisele, who shares a son, 8-year-old Benjamin, and daughter, 5-year-old Vivian, with NRL quarterback Tom Brady, nursed each of her kids for 18 months at a time.

“I was always praised for my body, and I felt like people had expectations from me that I couldn’t deliver,” she explained. “I felt very vulnerable, because I can work out, I can eat healthy, but I can’t change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right. All I wanted was for them to be even and for people to stop commenting on it.”

But as soon as she went under the knife, she immediately regretted her decision – an admission she made in her memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.

“When I woke up, I was like, ‘What have I done?’ I felt like I was living in a body I didn’t recognise,” she wrote, in an excerpt published by People. “For the first year I wore [baggy] clothes because I felt uncomfortable.”

It was only with the support of her husband, that she began to build her confidence up.

“He just said, ‘I love you no matter what,’ and that I looked beautiful,” she said. “This was definitely another lesson: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But I wish I would have learned that a different way.”
