Pop-Tarts Is Releasing Two Dessert-Inspired Flavors, and They Taste EXACTLY Like Your Favorite Cupcakes

Two dessert-inspired Pop-Tarts are hitting shelves this summer. Earlier this week, the brand introduced its new Frosted Chocolate Cupcake and announced the return of a fan-favorite flavor: the Frosted Confetti Cupcake. According to the press release, it initially debuted in 2017 and has become the second most-requested flavor in the entire Pop-Tart lineup. To say I’m ecstatic is an understatement.

Now let’s get down to business and ask the important questions, like do these actually taste like cupcakes? Twitter certainly thinks so. Though fans have yet to try the Frosted Chocolate Cupcake flavor (it debuts in June!), it’s a surefire hit. Especially if the Confetti Cupcake’s success is any indication. “Cupcake pop-tarts…I was blind, now I see,” one user wrote back in 2013. While another added, “The confetti cupcake pop-tarts taste like cupcakes and I’m confused about what meal it falls under now.”

“At Pop-Tarts, we love to give fans the flavors they love most, and our research shows that over 50 percent of our fans eat Pop-Tarts as a snack,” director of marketing Joe Beauprez said in a statement.”We reimagined the classic dessert in Pop-Tart form, giving our devoted fans more opportunity to enjoy this delicious, sweet treat any time of the day.”

The cupcake-inspired flavors will launch at major retailers nationwide. They’ll be available in boxes of eight for just $2.09. BUT in the meantime, Pop-Tarts cereal will hold you over. The brand began selling the Frosted Strawberry and Frosted Brown Sugar breakfast bites back in January as a Walmart exclusive.
